10 facts about Phil’s room:

  • Despite what everyone may think, he keeps very little Captain America Memorabilia displayed around his home. But there are a few smaller items he keeps on the bedroom dresser and bookshelves. These are the more important ones that hold sentimental value.
  • He has a drawer dedicated to designer ties.
  • His closet is meticulously organized. It’s bordering impressive and really concerning.
  • He only keeps two pillows on the bed. He doesn’t need more.
  • Phil is particularly careful about making sure the bedroom window is secure when locking up the apartment at night.
  • He hates the sound of his bedroom alarm clock. It’s very incessant.
  • No shoes allowed.
  • Phil is so boring at home I only had seven facts.
  • I mean look at him not a hair out of place he’s one step away from buying a personalized label maker for organizational purposes.
  • Viscachas are not rabbits.

2, 13, and 30.

What is their weapon of choice, and what weapon do they dislike using the most?

Contrary to popular belief it’s not his taser. He likes the efficiency of his standard hand gun. This of course does not mean Phil doesn’t find the challenge of using ‘anything as a weapon’ any less entertaining.

What decision in their past did they most analyze and fret over after the fact?

See here.

Do they have any allergies or chronic conditions?

Phil still suffers from chest pains and will for the rest of his life.

What do they do when they need comfort? Do they seek out a person, a food, an activity, etc?

Phil heads to the Tower now. It used to be solitude. Used to be locking his office door and resting his head in his palm. Now it’s the sound of Tony and Clint teaching Thor how to play XBox. The distance page flip of one of Natahsa’s magezines. Sometimes he gets the honor of discussing baseball and things with the Cap, or maybe Pepper’s come down to take a break from work just like he has. There’s occasionally even Banner, quiet like Phil tends to be, blending into the background to scribble away at something in comforting silence.

Phil used to need to be alone. Now he doesn’t.

What do their hands look and feel like?

Dexterous, and maybe a few trigger callouses here and there. There’s rough spot over his right hand’s middle finger, where signing off on paperwork has made its mark. A scar or two lightly stretches over knuckle or palm, but any handshake would be warm and welcoming. They’re a little worn is all.

22, 5.

What kind of weather makes them happy, and what kind makes them sad?

Phil enjoys the pleasant days. Not too warm, not too cold, perhaps a cloud or two breezing by. Something calm in a hectic lifestyle.

He does not, however, enjoy the heat. Especially in the evening. It does not bode well for the suit, and he’s had his fill of too many nights spent wide awake on a hard ground and in humid air.

What are they like when they get sick? Do they have a particular system (ears, lungs, etc) that illness gravitates to?

To be frank, Phil becomes a whiner baby. A really bad flu will have him cursing migraines and stuffed sinuses.

6, 9, 13.

What languages do they speak? Do they have any idiosyncrasies or identifiable patterns of speech, word usages, etc?

Phil is fluent in Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Russian, as most of his operations tend to be in South America and Europe. He never learned Farsi, despite his time in Afghanistan.

As for idiosyncrasies or patterns, it’s been years since Phil’s Chicago roots were predominant. He has a habit of being more formal than he actually cares to be.

As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up? Did they realize their dream?

Okay, yes, Phil wanted to be the next Captain America. When deciding a career path he later boiled it down to helping others. There was a time his family pressured him to choose the usual fields, CIA, Government, etc. Phil chose Army Ranger instead.

What decision in their past did they most analyze and fret over after the fact?

Too many. Phil can calculate and over analyze until his last breath— He’s just thankful there are those who can remind him that to make error is to be human.

What foods do they eat most often? Do they enjoy it?

Phil sits in the middle of fast food and fine dining. When busy with work he’ll settle for anything quick, when socializing with others he’ll pay the bill for fancier restaurants.

Close friends, though, know the comfort of a good old fashion diner.

Do they have children? Do they want children? What names would they choose?

He does not. It would be a lie to say such fantasies haven’t crept into his daydreams— Picket fences and dropping a son or daughter off at soccer practice on the weekends— Phil knows now that’s never going to be in the cards.

He likes the name Grant though. Or Sophaline.

How do they arrange or decorate their living space?

Simple and clean. Any clutter is loose papers or a discarded sleeping shirt or two. Phil doesn’t go so far as to label anything, but everything generally has a place.

14. What are they like when they are drunk?

Phil is like a ninja lightweight. He can down a good amount of the hard stuff without cringing, but it will hit him all at once after it finally settles. When he first joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and learned of the borderline James Bond-esque missions involved, he initially worry this would be a problem. Fortunately, most undercover ops of the like only require a quick sip of champagne and a disappearing act before anything gets too wild.

[[ And I have a whole tag dedicated to what Phil is like when he’s drunk if that says anything. ]]

17. Do they have any pet peeves or petty dislikes, and how do they react to encountering them?

Phil has two major pet peeves:

There is a section on mission reports that most agents either skip over or don’t fill out correctly. It drives him crazy because so many operatives do it, and even though it’s just a small hiccup it still slows down his flow of filing them properly.

The second is New York drivers. End of story.

20. Do they like to travel? How do they pack and prepare?

He enjoys recreational travel. Work related travel has him indifferent because it’s a necessity. Phil packs what he needs. He’s a Ranger. There wasn’t time to worry over extra pairs of socks during his travels.

How do they react to being physically injured or undergoing medical treatment?

Phil keeps a level head and assess what damage he can on his own if there’s no time to see a medic, which is usually the case in the field. When he does receive treatment, he’s respectful and cooperative (For the most part).

You aren't strong.

Officially deemed dead at the scene

Two instances of cardiac arrest upon resuscitation

Four more on the on table

Three months in classified ICU

Four in physical therapy

And everyday reminding me that wasn’t the first close call.

I may not be the strongest, but I’m still fucking here.

Phil is good with names. He often looks over the new recruitment rosters so he can match names to faces with exceptional potential.

He also remembers the names of those whom least expect it, simply for the entertainment of witnessing their reaction upon reveal.
