Theorize later, don’t get shot now! Priorities , Cheese! Damn!

“Eyes on me, Phil.”
“You know I’ve always got them on you, boss.”
“Eyes on me.” To a bystander, it’s just an order, a request from a man accustomed to commanding absolute attention.
“Eyes on me.” It’s become a coded phrase, for them. Most people actually can’t maintain eye contact with Nick for too long; the public persona he’s had to create is altogether too intimidating for that. Phil’s never been like that, and Nick cherishes the subtle intimacy of his unwavering gaze perhaps more than he should. (It doesn’t help that Phil’s got such beautiful, compassionate eyes.)
“Eyes on me.” It’s as close as Nick can come, in public, to admitting vulnerability: Phil knows what it means, and that’s “I need to be reminded that you love me.” Sometimes, it’s “I can’t live without you”, it’s “you’re the only one who understands.” And Phil does understand, and he calls Nick “boss”, and that’s “I love you too”.
“Eyes on me.” They’re pretty much the last words Nick says to Phil before he blacks out, and the first words he hears when he wakes up.

The fact that you two consider this a good day is frightening.
Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week, Ch. 5 of 8
In which Coulson has feels about Sitwell’s well-being and calls for gunshow back-up. (Jesus, Clint. YOUR ARMS.)

The best part about this alternate universe Hawkeye is not just that Clint was blind (surprise!) but that he’s blind because of Captain America.
